The Rotary Foundation is Rotary's own charity. It exists to promote international peace and understanding and to relieve poverty where it can. It relies upon donations from Rotarians, the public and, where it can find them, sponsors. It is the only Rotary charity within the Rotary movement.

Rotary Foundation in the United Kingdom (RFUK) is an Associate Foundation of the international charitable trust.

The Rotary Foundation’s Principal Operations

  1. Major worldwide projects, often in co-operation with other international bodies
  2. International exchanges, through teaching, scholarships and study teams
  3. Grants to stimulate Rotary clubs and districts into setting up and running overseas projects in partnership with Rotarians in recipient countries and grants to boost local projects

Ambassadorial Scholarships

Ambassadorial scholarships make Rotary the largest non-government scholarships sponsoring body in the world. They are awarded for one academic year of study abroad. These aim to cover travel, tuition fees, living expenses, limited language training and extraneous expenses up to a maximum limit which changes year on year.

Rotary World Peace Fellowships

The Rotary Foundation is partnered with several leading universities around the world to select scholars for two year masters level degree programmes. Please note scholars are funded from the Rotary Foundation World Fund. We promote outward scholarships for people in this RIBI District with the requisite qualities.

Group Study Exchange

Group Study Exchange is a system of reciprocal study visits, in which districts in two different countries exchange teams to gain experience of other’s society’s social, cultural and work practices. Each team comprises a Rotarian leader and up to four non-Rotarian members, the members being young business people or employees in responsible positions, between 25 – 40 years old who will benefit from the experience vocationally.

For more information please contact Geoff Hague, chair of the club's International & Foundation Committee or visit Rotary online at district or national level.
