District Governor Visits

DG Ian Priestley

Club members had the opportunity to meet District Governor Ian Priestley and his wife Kim the other day. This was their first visit to our club. Ian gave an energising after-dinner speech bringing greetings from Rotary International (RI) President Kalyan Banerjee, RI of Britain and Ireland President Burman (who can be followed on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RIBIpresident) and Paul Watlow President of RC of Marple & Goyt Valley (Ian’s home club).
Ian encouraged members to consider attending the forthcoming convention in Bangkok.

“Thailand is a spectacular destination, truly the Land of a Thousand Smiles. I would particularly urge Rotarians who have never visited Thailand before to consider this as your chance. You’ll be surrounded by gracious Rotarian hosts and friends, old and new, from around the world. Bangkok is a fantastic gateway for those wishing to explore Southeast Asia, and a wonderful experience on its own. Bangkok will give you wonderful value for your time and money.
“But the very best reason to visit Bangkok, of course, will be the 2012 RI Convention itself, 6 - 9 May – the highlight of the Rotary calendar.”

Wow! Some of us are already giving serious consideration to making a trip to Thailand, taking in the Convention, the family holiday next year.
