The Christmas Grotto

Each year Father Christmas, Poynton and District Rotary Club and the Natwest Bank, work together to make Christmas special for the children of the town. Father Christmas sits in his grotto (in the Natwest Bank carpark!) and talks to the children about what it is they want for Christmas. If they're nice to him, he may give them a sweetie or two. Meanwhile . . . we have a team of volunteers rattling collection boxes, usually outside the Post Office, Waitrose, Morrisons and Asda.  We hope you will bring your children to visit.

On the Friday before Christmas . . .

. . . nothing is quiet at all.  We have a team of collectors who gently accost those out and about drinking in local hostelries in the hope that we can persuade them to part with a few pennies for our good causes.  We don't usually have a shortage of volunteers for this fabulous pub crawl.  You may well find one or t'other of us in . . .

The Boar's Head, The Bull's Head, The Butley Ash, The Davenport Arms, The Deanwater, The Farmers Arms, The Five Ways, The Legh Arms, The Miners Arms, Poynton Workmen's Club, The Rising Sun, The Royal British Legion, The Three Bears, The Unicorn, The Vernon Arms, and The Windmill Inn.

Needless to say we look forward to raising funds in this way again this festive season and hope to see you out and about.
