Senior Citizens Trip to Llandudno
Over recent years, Poynton Rotary fund and organise coach trips to Llandudno in North Wales, and sometimes Southport for a change.
Normally these are funded directly from fund raising events run each year by Poynton Rotary Club. As well as self funding in 2017, we were also very grateful to be awarded £550 by the Cheshire East Community Fund for a second coach following a successful funding bid. This enabled more elderly or infirm residents to benefit from a free day trip to the seaside.
Each year, Waitrose in Poynton have kindly donated chocolates and bottled water for the journey. Poynton Rotary Club supplement this with assorted packets of crisps etc. This is a good example of organisations working together within the local community.
The Seniors and Carers have come from:
- Time Out Cafe,
- Golden Memories Group,
- Cedarwood House,
- Poynton Christian Fellowship seniors,
- Baptist Church Senior Link Group,
- Woburn Court,
- Dean Row Stroke Club
- Dean Row Chapel
- and other places
The comments received after the trips are always really positive. Here are a small selection of feedback comments: "We were so well looked after" "Thank you for thinking of the old folk" "It was a pleasure to be taken out by such a nice crowd of people" "It was the companionship that made the day more enjoyable and did us a lot of good" "we came home refreshed" "very nice and enjoyable"
Llandudno is Wales's largest resort is uniquely situated between the Great and Little Ormes.
It has two wonderful beaches, the award winning North Shore and the quiet, sand duned West Shore.
Llandudno has kept its Victorian and Edwardian elegance and splendour, despite its modern attractions.
